Wow, I haven’t posted/blogged/reblogged… in a while!
My final year in secondary school (high school…kinda) is coming to an end - which means exams, exams, exams… I’m almost at the finish line though and I thank God for seeing me through this far :)
I’ve also been doing a 40 day fast, which ended yesterday; wooo! No breakfast or snacks until lunchtime (on school days - except exam days) and weekends would vary, breaking my fast around 2-5pm.
Honesty, when I first committed to doing the fast - I thought ‘40 days! That’s A LOT of food you’re missing out on!!’ but really when it came down to it I had God given strength that allowed me to see hour-to-hour without giving up.
So it’s over now, and these 40 days have just flown by. I’ve learnt to look at fasting and prayer in a different light, and to value self-discipline and determination more highly. But all in all, that we (as his people) need to be closer to God - feeding ourselves spiritually is of more value to ourselves rather than physically eating…
I’ve also seen some miraculous things happening in my life… Every year I make a list of things that I would like to achieve by the end of the year (Resolutions)… I always seem to stick to them - not because they’re simple (because some are ridiculously ambitious!) but because I keep each one close to my heart by praying about them.
So, one of my aims was to travel - I specifically listed Paris as the place - intending on building up some money to travel on my own. Which would be very difficult as the jobs I work are volunteer jobs for experience, but I kept it on my list anyways.
Just a few days into the fast as I was about to go to sleep, before I did I decided to turn on my phone, when I did I saw a text from my brother telling me that our T.V provider was giving it’s customers 2 FREE tickets to Disneyland Paris… The catch was that the offer ended that same night within about 20 minutes… Now I’m a big kid at heart so I ran to the computer like the human form of sonic the hedgehog (lol), logged on, found the link, sorted out a date, registered and completed it all before midnight.
WOO!
It didn’t hit me until I realised, ‘what if I kept my phone off and slept?’ - I would have missed out on the opportunity God had provided.
It also made me realise that God cares about the goals we aim to achieve on earth, he wants us to enjoy sight-seeing and travelling the depths of His creation; all to give glory to His Name.
ALSO, that we cannot afford to be lazy when pursuring our goals - if it means we lose out time to sleep, then well we lose out time to sleep… We have to be willing to sacrifice (linking back to prayer & fasting)
…So that’s my update for now, I hope to be blogging a bit more as exams are almost done! I pray this has encouraged you to bring your heart’s desires to The Lord in prayer for ‘…whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive.’ (Mat. 21:22)
